[TRANS] BEAST's Noona fans interview



  • Q: In the beginning what was the reason that turns you into BEAST's fans? 
Noona #1: During <Its A Beautiful Night> era, I was watching MBC Everyone <Weekly Idol> that they guested on and started to be interested, afterwards I searched a lot of their videos to watch, and this is how it started. I feel that they're very kind and upright idols, so I got charmed by them in a moment. Also searched fan-taken videos, and feel that their fan-service is really good. 

Noona #2: For me it's during KBS2 <Music Bank> first broadcast of their debut song <Bad Girl>. At first I only saw news of rookie groups MBLAQ & BEAST, and feel that it's nothing much, but after watching their broadcast on <Music Bank>, feel that their popularity is originally very high. So with a heart of 'Why is that so?', I went to search and watched their pre-debut reality show SBS <MTV B2ST> and fall in love with them afterwards. 

Noona #3: I'm someone who listened to music on a daily basis. During <Shadow> era I listened to the song everyday. When I went to search the composer of the song, I also get to know the members who are similar to the composer of the song. This is the first time I like idols. 
  • Q: Ah, so you like them not because of their looks but after listening to their songs? 
Noona #3: BEAST is not those flower boys who looked particularly pretty. Looking them at again & again, you'll find that they've charms. I seems to have fallen into their kind charms. 

Noona #1: What are you talking about! They're all flower boys okay! Yang Yoseop!! 
  • Q: How did the 3 of you know each other? 
Noona #2: When BEAST first debut I heard that there are many junior high fans. Among them there's a small group of them in their 20s. Starting from when those people said brave words like "I like BEAST", I too answered "Me too". And then through Twitter we became closer. Because of the similarity of being 'Noona fans', we became closer. In the beginning, people who are closer to each other start to meet up with one another, afterwards people who step up and expressed (that they like BEAST) become more too. We too want to use our ways to show we like BEAST. When we are doing good things we helped to promote them too. 
  • Q: How did 비사누* comes about? (Noona누 who loves사 BEAST비) 
Noona #2: It was set up in a hurry during <Good Luck> era. We don't have a webpage or whatsoever too. It's just that the noonas who are closer to each other, suddenly have a chance of holding an event in the movie theatre during <Good Luck> era, so we gathered everyone, but we don't have a group name. So the noonas just have a temporary name called 비사누, haha. 
  • Q: Ah, before the movie event there isn't any special gathering for support event etc?
Noona #2: Truthfully we are not very extreme/enthusiastic. Because we live further away, we mostly support only. But there are noonas who follow their open broadcast and other activity too. There are noonas who uses their annual leave, medical leave... weekend time to chase them too. When we meet up together and chat with such noonas, feel that now we should express ourselves more extremely too. So the first time we did a support is to send gifts for the Bulgarian students in Korean language class. During <Shadow> we bought a lot of albums for fan signs (because to enter a fansign its by draw lot style so the more they buy the higher chance they've to get into fansign^_^) so there are a lot of leftovers. We feel that it'll be good if we can do something for a good cause with the leftover albums, so while we were troubling over this, we saw online about a Bulgarian teacher who's trying to get the students in Korean language class to understand the behind of the Korea flag, so we prepared a gift for those students. Including 70 albums, Korean storybooks, Korean travel books, magazines that BEAST featured on, Comfort Women bracelet (the one that Yoseop wore on happy together before), we sent all these together as a gift. 

Noona #1: Even though that teacher is teaching Korean language, he teaches History too. So we told him that we hope that through the Comfort Women bracelet he's able to give a lesson regarding the history behind it. We also shared the story of this support event online. It's really fulfilling. The Bulgarian students also sent us a video. Everyone can go search about it. It's really meaningful. 
  • Q: Speaking of which, Yang Yoseop's wearing of Comfort Women bracelet on KBS2 <Happy Together> also spark a topic right.

Noona #1: I told him about the meaning of the bracelet when I went to their fansign, Yang Yoseop immediately stood up from his seat and said he will go and look for the bracelet. Not just on TV program, he wear it in his daily live too. Among fans it became a topic too. 

Noona #2: Even though I heard of words like 'are they just putting it for show', but because that will allow everyone to understand us better, be it fans or singers. We also feel that it'll be good if such positive speculations can help in BEAST's promotions. 

Noona #1: Wish to tell normal people or people who don't know BEAST that they're idols with positive mindset and kindness. 
  • Q: What are BEAST's charms? 
Noona #2: Honestly speaking, it's no gossip. Speaking of idols they're people who create topics. Even though idols should become topics that people often talk about, but BEAST has no gossip, until the extent of us wanting to create a gossip for them. Because it will be good if we are able to create positive topic, so there are many thoughts on it. So we have the movie event too. Gathering all the noona fans and doing it together. At the time I went to meet Noona #3, and come up with the name of 비사누. 

Noona #3: That time I wrote "Looking for Noona fans who are disguised as normal people", got a lot of response. Honestly speaking, at this age, it's hard to say words like "I like idols". Now with the condition that Noona fans can do event too, so all the fans who are disguised as normal people all revealed themselves. 

Noona #2: There are many people who wish to help but couldn't personally participate in the event themselves. Even though we have never met each other before, I'm thankful that despite having not meet each other before, they sent their money over. We wish to use this money for a good cause. 

Noona #1: Between BEAST & the fans, it's not just empty words, we are really communicating. Constantly monitoring what we are doing, anything that we feel upset or is having a difficult time because of if. We feel that they don't just treat fan as fan, feel like they treat fan as if we are "their people", a charm that no other idols has. 

Noona #3: On the last day of the movie event, Dongwoon personally came to the movie theatre to express his thankfulness, even took a photo of recognition after the movie ends. Can't even mention how thankful I'm...... How can there be singers like this? 
  • Q: There are words like "tribute", it seems like you all aren't doing a tribute to the singers but using the money in a better place/for a better cause. 

Noona #1: If the student fans' way is more of giving oppas gifts, then the Noona fans' thoughts is "It'll be good if the things we do can let BEAST shine even more". 

Noona #3: Which means to help them shine even brighter. To promote to normal people, to become the role model of fans. 

Noona #1: In an idol fandom if there are still many fans who don't have the proper conception, we will, because we are the (elder) sister, think that it will be good if we can become the fans' role model. 

Noona #2: Normally a tribute is given to singers right. Take a good look at our kids... Hahaha promoting and doing good things at the same time. 
  • Q: Not just 비사누 but the rest of the fandom are doing many good things too right? 
Noona #2: That's right, the rest of BEAST's fandom are doing related works to 'Save the children', there are also 'Happybean' donation, all sort of work too. 

Noona #3: There are also donations to other countries such as water well and forest. 

Noona #2: Actually when we send out our invitations we were very shocked, because there are many in the fandom who are doing even better things, there are really many people who want to do charity work through fan activity. 
  • Q: Heard that BEAST would do society related charity work & donate items too 
Noona #2: It's a part of their 5th anniversary event. Because if there are news like, sharing the joy of their 5th anniversary through charity with people and donating items, people who don't know may take an interest in charity work too. So the gifts they sent have rice cakes and snacks for 160 people, drinks, BEAST CD and personalized mug. 

Noona #1: Secondly it's to give the 1-person-fire-station in Gikwang's hometown Naju, red ginseng sweet, snacks, drinks, cups & hot packs. 
  • Q: Even though charity work is related to BEAST, but why gift the 1-person-fire-station? 
Noona #1: 1-person-fire-station has been a topic recently. Noonas are more concerned about society issues like this. 

Noona #2: Together with the popular topics recently, we feel that it'll help in promoting / bringing attention to it. 
  • Q: Is the 5 years anniversary event still going on? 
Noona #1: It is. Because it's 5th year anniversary so we are planning to do 5 activities. The third one is to donate pet food to abandoned dogs. 

Noona #2: BEAST like puppies a lot. There are many members who are raising a dog too, so we donated pet food for abandons dogs. We have decided in the future we will continue to do activities related to abandoned dogs. The fourth is to give BEAST's planning staffs mugs, snacks, cakes etc. It's sort of s donation with the meaning "Please take care of our kids well in the future~". The fifth one we are currently planning is to give the friends in China who are studying the Korean language CD and small gifts. 
  • Q: To do an event like this it requires a lot of money. 
Noona #3: Most of the Noona fans are already working so there's no limits to spending money, we are voluntarily raising the amount of money that is needed. 

Noona #1: Actually it's not a small amount, but when they believe us and it was very touching when they said "We can only fork out a small amount of money, thank you for helping us to spend it on the kids" 

Noona #3: Even though it's people they don't know, but they still readily hands over their money and said encouraging and thankful words to us, I'm really thankful.  



  • Q: Doing fan event while working at the same time, it seems that time will be very tight. What's your motivation? 

Noona #3: The heart of loving them? Haha

Noona #1: Noona fans who are in their 30s are mostly working at a managerial level and above in their company. Knowing how the society works, have a lot of learning lessons and experiences too. With those experiences as the foundation, adjusting our schedule to participate in those activities. 

Noona #2: Because the heart of liking them is very strong. And by expressing it it means they will continue with it. And also the Noona fans are very happy and it's very interesting because of BEAST so they continue to like them.



  • Q:  During corporate scene, do you "cosplay" as normal people too? 

Noona #3: During a company meal if BEAST came on the TV I won't make a sound. If I meet up with normal friends and tell them "I like BEAST" I'll get scolded by them "How old are you already". Haha 

Noona #1: That's why when all of us meet up we become even closer because we have a common topic that we're concerned with. Usually people would have a judgement against you for liking idols or actors because of your age, so to be able to not care about those judgments and talk together about a common topic that we're concerned with feels really good. 

Noona #2: And also recently it seems like there are more Noona fans. In the past, there are many people who hide themselves, who restrict themselves, recently it seems like there are more people who express themselves eagerly. I'm one who's already caught (liking BEAST)..... so I'm expressing myself more eagerly. Haha
